Rounding the corner

I apologize for missing Friday. I was in Delaware and didn't get home until super late, followed by a day trip to Dallas for the weekend so time was not in high supply. I will do a make-up entry tomorrow. Additionally, I'm trying something new this entry: Video!

Unfortunately, it took a couple of tries to get things just right so the first game or two of this update will have sparse information. Let's just get started. First up, the Sabers at home.

Here is PMush scoring!
Unfortunately, that was the only good thing to happen to us this game.

Next up, Ducks on the road!

A well taken RF goal.
And there here is This Is A Stickup scoring, but only in picture form.

Those were the only highlights I managed.

Ok, on to this game against the Canadiens, where I have an actual lot of highlights to get through.

The puck gets wrapped around the back of the net. Stickup went out to collect but Hats beats him there. Hats backs off and dishes to Podima while Stickup floats back to the center. Podima finds Stickup and he buries it. 1-0 to the good guys.

Diqnol leaves it for Asiina, who passes it back. Diq then looks up and sees PMush and hits a nice cross rink pass. He follows his own pass to the backdoor and when PMush spots him and gives it back, Diq is on hand to make sure.
Unfortunately we then give up a short handed goal. Whoopsie. Fisk just... gave the puck away and their player was on hand to punish us for that.
It's then made 2-2 with a defensive breakdown.

The third period and overtime were uneventful so it went to a shootout which is presented here in it's entirety.

Final wrap up for this game

Glad that we won the shootout since I recorded it, ha. A nice performance all around.

Game four today is against the Ducks, who we played two games ago. We won the last one so I am hopeful that this one will go equally as well.

We enter this clip down 1-0
Ok, so we're down 2-0.

Uhhh... 3-0. He scored from the blue line, wtf bird???? This is not going like the last game...

Hey, a goal! With less than thirty seconds to go in the second period Murmur Twin brings it around the net and tees up busb. Busb hits a nice shot but the goalie saves it. However, the goalie isn't able to keep hold of it and spills it into the path of Murmur Twin, who was following up and taps it in. Great! Perhaps some momentum going into the third period!

Uh, nope. No momentum. We get caught with our pants down during an ill timed line change. Bummer.

Well, you win some, you lose some, it can't be that big of a de-

Uhhhhh.... okay. I'm sorry? This is the first time I have seen such an email. I hope I don't get fired.

A final matchup today, this against the Canucks.

Busb elbows a guy, takes the puck, and scores from an extreme angle. 1-0. Nicely done.

About the middle of the first period, it is 1-1. Within a minute of that last goal, the Canucks are up 2-1 against us. Bleh. The first period ends that way. On to the second.

Five minutes into the second, Poque snags the puck and slides it to Podima. Pod loses it but Stickup is the first to the puck. He skates around the back of the neck and puts it away.

Fisk wins the faceoff and hits the puck back to Keane. He lays it off to Pinterest Mom. PMom lays it back off to Fisk and a snapshot right at the goalie. The goalie spills it and Fisk races up and puts it in the net.

I didn't get this video done right but Fisk puts this one in the back of the net, too. 4-2.

From a faceoff, the Canucks take a quick attack the length of the ice and put it away. 4-3.

I missed the final goal, but PMush made it 5-3 with less than a minute to go, putting it away against an empty net.

With 17 games to go, we're 10 points safe from being left out of the playoffs. An angry email from the board aside, we're continuing to keep our distance. We have gone 6-4 in our last 10. The 9th place team has gone 6-4 in their last ten, so while we didn't gain ground to safety, we didn't lose any either. Also, 4th place has gone 2-7-1 in the same span, meaning we are only 2 points away from having a home playoff series to start.

Let's wrap this up. See everyone tomorrow!

The End

Hey folks, I am way behind because of work and some other things so it's time to make that right. It will be picture light but content heavy. To start today we are hosting the Bruins, who are 16th in the East. Should be academic but we all know about our struggles against teams from the East. The first and second periods pass by in a flash, with the game not stopping to show me anything of note. Both teams took 16 shots and there were 3 power plays but no good opportunities. The third period is much of the same. We create a few goal mouth scrambles in the last minute of regulation but nothing do. Overtime is equally sleepy, so to a shootout we go. Why am I not surprised? Diqnol and Hats hit their efforts right at the goalie, while PMom just misses the net completely. Bummer. The result drops us to 7th. Away to Nashville now. The Predators are in 5th so if we want to have a shot at hosting a home playoff series we probably need to win here. Halfway through the first w...

Injury bug strikes again

We start today's update with some less than ideal news. I think the 23 player squad limit is the biggest thing I am having trouble adjusting to, especially when we roster 20 in a game. I've got a couple of injuries so I have free spots on my bench now which I assume is not good? Anyway, onto the first game of this update. A home loss is less than ideal. Confirmation that we suck against teams from the East as well as on the road. Gosh. So of course our next game is on the road to a team from the East, Columbus! They are 13-11-4. Let's see how it goes. Its_is_a_mystery.png Ok then Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. I need new penalty takers apparently. Kash also blew a glorious chance to win it with 10 seconds left in OT. And then. Well, at least this update is almost over. Can't get much worse I hope. On the road to the 14th placed team in the East. Predictable ending. Sigh. Okay, one more game for this quick update. ...

Seven Days in Hell

It was four months ago that we began this journey, seeking after a simple prize: Lord Stanley's Cup. And now, here we are, in the finals. We are on the road for four games this series and we're facing the #1 team in the East, two things that we have struggled against this season. In fact, we lost both of our regular season match-ups with the Maple Leafs. This is going to be rough. I'm not exactly confident and would not be surprised if we got swept here. Nevertheless! The show must go on. And on that note, Stickup says he is good to go.  Game 1 The first period is a period of nerves. Interestingly, though, the nerves are all on the home Maple Leafs. We get five power plays in the opening 12 minutes of the game. And on the fifth. Kashuno makes them pay. Poque retrieved the puck deep in the attacking end, gave it to Leatherman, and FL found Kashuno. 1-0 early and I just screamed in my hotel room.  A few minutes later and the Maple Leafs have a good go ...
