Wrapping up a road trip

We have the second half of that road trip to tackle so lets get to it. We're away to the Captials. They're 5th in the East to our 5th in the West.

The first period didn't have a lot happen in it at all. In the second the deadlock was broken by a good effort by Fisk.

The Fisk goal was about the only action of the second period. Pretty dull proceedings. Things were going pretty well until Poque just decided to stop skating after the puck at one point. That turnover led to a goal and sent the game to overtime. Also the puck deflected off of Birdstrike. Way to go, keep. Well, you can probably guess how that turned out.

The winning goal came at the very end of overtime. There was a faceoff happening with 20 seconds left so I pulled this up to type that previous paragraph because I just knew how things were going to go. Of course Poque decided to make amends for being a bonehead earlier. Since I forgot that, and because I decided to not bother copying the bottom half with the stats anymore, here is the shot chart for the game.

A couple of observations:

  • Poque and Murmur Twin decided to shoot from about halfway for some reason.
  • Pinterest Mom at the bottom left... why?
  • Wren had the closest miss in this one.
You know, shot chart is pretty fun. I think I might do it from now on.

Cool, so an overtime win moves us to 4th place. Our next road game is away to the Blues who have climbed their way to 12th in the West. Oh please, oh please, oh please...

EFF. Less than a minute in. We can reco-
Hm.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Ok time for a goalie change. Let's see what happens.
Hey, thanks Fisk. Too bad the game is out of reach alr-
Huh. Interesting. Well, I still don't think that we can g-
Well alright then. I missed their next goal. Then this happened.
I would have never guessed we could get back to 4-4 in the second period but here we are. There was time for one more goal in the second.
And unfortunately, the Blues scored it, and no one else scored after that. RIP.

An unfortunate loss, but what a roller coaster. Gee whiz.

We don't get a lot of time to breath as it's time for the final game of the road trip. It's against Nashville, #1 in the West.

I looked away but Diqnol scored just over a minute into the game. Hell of a start! They struck back though when I wasn't looking again. Ok, gonna stay focused. Which pays off quickly, because Fisk

Put us in the lead, 2-1. It didn't last long though, as a few minutes later
It became 2-2. Into the third we go, and who else?
Fisk is on fire right now. PMom added an empty netter, which I did not screenshot because it'll show up on the shot chart.

A very credible win that we needed. It knocked them down to 3rd and brought us up to 4th. Our seven game road trip ended with us going 4-2-1. Nine points is a haul I will take.

We finally get to play in front of our own fans again and we are welcoming the 14th placed Oilers. I hope we can give them something to cheer about.

The first few minutes of the First Period don't have much action. Out of a faceoff,

The puck gets passed around a few times and then Murmur Twin knocks it in.

We get a second from busb

I was late to making the capture, but #37 there is really about where he was when he took the shot. Crazy. He banked it in, as you'll see from the shot chart.

I missed Fisk grab the third. We got a fourth out of #44 Pinterest Mom

They would score a goal but it wasn't enough. 4-1 to the good guys.

Game awarded gold to Murmur Twin, silver to Fisk, and bronze to busb for their performances.

Trade deadline is today and we're not making any moves in the market. We'll host the 2nd place Kings to finish the update, though.

Unfortunately I got a work phone call during this and also it didn't go well so here are these things.

Meh.

With 22 games to go, we need about 30 points on our own to clinch a playoff berth without respect to what the other teams do. From a quick google search, 95 points is typically a safe bet to make it. We're on 73, so from that we need 22 more points. So, win every other game and we're in. Cool

Wrap up

Epilogue Year 14

July 2030 Quid Nose, This is a Stickup, and Po Dima are all out of contract. Retro Futurist retired on July 17th. Quid Nose signed a 2 year, $110,000 per year deal with Lustenau in Austria. This is a Stickup signed a 1 year, $141,000 deal with Tappara in Finland. Also, this happened. I landed here. Po Dima, the oldest player in the game, remains without a team. I halfway think he may just retire. August 2030 September 2030 He actually retired a day later. Podima's memorial. He's rated as a 5 star because I'm currently in the ECHL. His last check in at the NHL level was a 1 star. This means we only have 3 Scumhunters left, and none of them are playing in the NHL currently. October 2030 With everyone playing overseas, we won't get many updates for NHL milestones, so this should go very quickly. I may end up doing a 2-for-1 and combine two years in this. Scumhunters are 2-10-2, 14th place. SEE IT WASN'T ALL MY F

Rounding the corner

I apologize for missing Friday. I was in Delaware and didn't get home until super late, followed by a day trip to Dallas for the weekend so time was not in high supply. I will do a make-up entry tomorrow. Additionally, I'm trying something new this entry: Video! Unfortunately, it took a couple of tries to get things just right so the first game or two of this update will have sparse information. Let's just get started. First up, the Sabers at home. Here is PMush scoring! Unfortunately, that was the only good thing to happen to us this game. Next up, Ducks on the road!  A well taken RF goal.  And there here is This Is A Stickup scoring, but only in picture form. Those were the only highlights I managed.  Ok, on to this game against the Canadiens, where I have an actual lot of highlights to get through.  The puck gets wrapped around the back of the net. Stickup went out to collect but Hats beats him there. Hats backs

Epilogue Year 15

July 2031 Magnus Gallant retired on July 16th. This is a Stickup retired on July 16th. Quidnose, age 35, is the last Scumhunter left. He has one year left on his deal, so I think this may be his last season. He'll turn 36 in May. I'll be going fast the rest of the way. Once Quid Nose retired, we'll open up the Scumhunters record book and see if any of our former players still hold records or not. Or... not. How about that. Quidnose was a 2 star back when he was 33 in the NHL, probably a 1 star by now. So... that's that, then. The new season hasn't started yet so I'll just go ahead and crack open the record book. Remember, our season was from August 2016-June 2017 so anything in those dates belongs to our squad. We have the Highest League Position, Highest Attendance, Lowest Attendance (no idea how this wasn't broken during the years of 14th place), Highest Playoff Attendance, Lowest Playoff Attendance (all playoff
