Epilogue Year 5

July 2021

Magnus Gallant and Bottle Knight have left the Scumhunters. The AI let a lot of players go so we are down to a squad of 12 Scumhunters, 4 randos, and 2 guys the computer made up because we didn't have a lot of players. Cant look at their "Information" or give them an actual contract. Nice job, AI. Should mean a lot of players in.

Sure enough, Magnus Gallant re-signed. This is a guy whose latest contract extension was for $920,000 and has exclusively played in the AHL at Tuscon the last three years. He was just handed a $3.6 million dollar one year deal. AI dumb.

Bottle Knight also returned for 2 years, $3.2 million per year.

I mentioned possible retirements coming up. Here's one.

And actually, a day later, he went ahead and retired, not bothering to play the last season on his contract. So here are FL's final screens.

23 Scumhunters remain.

August 2021

Austria will host the 2026 Olympic games.

September 2021

The Lord of Hats remains captain with Bottle Knight and Murmur Twin being the alternates. Jonathan Fisk is the captain of the Devils, Kashuno is an alternate captain for the Blue Jackets, and Poque is an alternate captain for the reigning champion Hurricanes.

Scumhunters are predicted 28th. For once, the MVP is not The Lord of Hats. It is Pinterest Mom.

October 2021

The Lord of Hats didn't make NHL's top 10 defensemen. Sad day.

PMom, MMM Whatchya Say, and Murmur Twin hit 400 NHL appearances.

Poque won a player of the week and defensive player of the week for 1 goal, 3 assists in 2 games.

November 2021

Busb hit 400 NHL appearances.

A trade out of nowhere and I'm pretty disappointed in this tbh.

Well, the Kings are quickly becoming Scumhunters Lite.

Hats and BottleKnight reached 200 NHL points.

Scumhunters are 9-16-2, 11th place.

December 2021

MMM Whatchya Say and Busb hit 100 NHL assists.

Murmur Twin won a player of the week and offensive player of the week for the Kings, scoring 4 goals and grabbing an assist in 2 games.

Magnus Gallant hit 100 NHL appearances.

Poque won a player of the week and defensive player of the week award for recording 8 assists in 4 games.

Scumhunters are 15-22-3, 11th place.

January 2022

Trade offers are coming in by the boatload for PMom. I don't think they are long for the Scumhunters, unfortunately.

Bottle Knight hit 400 NHL games.

PMom hit 100 NHL goals.

Bottle Knight got put on the trading block. Huh. Weird. Wren was also put on the block.

Scumhunters are 20-31-4, 13th place.

February 2022

Got another retirement coming.

Po Que once again added another year to his contract at the Hurricanes, getting another $7 million.

Birdstrike won a defensive player of the week award for pitching a shutout in his one game that week. Speaking of Birdstrike, we have Olympic call ups.

No surprises, those 3 seem to be regulars for major tournaments. Doesn't appear as if Kash or Stickup were called up.

Hats played very well in Canada's 5-1 victory over Denmark. He was selected second star of the game. PMom played okay in USA's 4-0 win over Switzerland. Birdstrike played good in Slovakia's 3-2 loss to Russia.

Birdstrike played okay in Slovakia's 3-2 defeat to the Czech Republic. Hats played okay in Canada's 3-2 shootout win over Finland. PMom played good and had an assist in USA's 6-1 victory over Sweden.

Hats played great in Canada's 7-3 win over Germany, being selected third star. PMom had a good game, scoring a goal, in USA's 3-2 win over Austria. Birdstrike was great in Slovakia's 3-0 win over Belarus.

Birdstrike played good in Slovakia's 2-1 victory over Denmark.

Hats scored the winning goal in Canada's 3-2 quarterfinal victory over Sweden. Birdstrike played okay in Slovakia's 4-0 quarterfinal defeat to Russia. PMom had a great game in USA's 5-0 quarterfinal victory over Germany.

Hats played well and had an assist in Canada's 3-0 semifinal victory over Czech Republic. PMom had an okay game in USA's 5-2 semifinal victory over Russia.

Capitalist Pig reached 400 NHL appearances.

Hats played okay and PMom played well as USA won the gold medal, 2-0, over Canada.

Keane was traded to the Ducks for a 2nd round pick.

Scumhunters are 21-36-4, 13th place.

March 2022

Poison Mushroom hit 400 NHL games.

Snooze Cruise, making $302,000 in Switzerland, will be coming back home on a one year, $3.2 million deal.

Scumhunters are 27-45-5, 13th place.

April 2022

Asiina signed on with Geneve-Servette for another year at another $1 million.

World Championships time! Busb (USA), The Lord of Hats (CAN), and This is a Stickup (CAN) are all participating. Hats is captain for Canada.

Hats had two assist and Stickup added another in Canada's 5-0 win over Austria. Seems like Busb is not going to play much if at all for USA during this tournament as he was left out of the squad in the USA's 5-0 win over Latvia.

Stickup had an assist and Hats played alright in Canada's 3-2 shootout loss to Sweden.

May 2022

Stickup scored twice and Hats assisted twice (the two of them combined for Stickup's first goal) in Canada's 4-2 win over Denmark.

Stickup scored one and assisted another in Canada's 3-1 win over Germany.

Hats scored the tying goal in Canada's 3-2 shootout win over Great Britain.

Bottle Knight and Allen Wren were waived and then released when they cleared waivers.

Hats scored a goal as Canada defeated Russia 4-3 after a shootout.

Hats and Stickup both had "meh" games as Canada lost 5-4 after a shootout to Slovakia.

Hats scored and had an assist in a 5-4 loss to Finland in the quarter finals, a disappointing end to the tournament for them. USA similarly exited at the quarter finals after a 3-2 loss to Denmark. Busb never played.

June 2022

Wren rejoined the Scumhunters on a one year, $775,000 contract.

Asiina, having just had to go through a surgery and being out six months, is doing another one? I think they may just be bugged at this point...

Hurricanes repeat as Stanley Cup champions, sweeping the Wild 4-0. Poque had 4 assists total in the finals.

Scumhunters have the #1 overall draft pick. Nice.

Predraft thing

Kind of a shock announcement right before the turn of the game year.

He retired and left the game the next day. I'll put his memorial here because of that. Diq's will be at the end of the post. Since he was a free agent at the time he retired I don't have a scout report page, but I got his list of awards instead.

Fans Player of the Year:

Some records we set:

Ok, lets memorialize Diqnol and then post some stats.

When Diqnol officially retires, we'll be down to 21 Scumhunters.

The End

Hey folks, I am way behind because of work and some other things so it's time to make that right. It will be picture light but content heavy. To start today we are hosting the Bruins, who are 16th in the East. Should be academic but we all know about our struggles against teams from the East. The first and second periods pass by in a flash, with the game not stopping to show me anything of note. Both teams took 16 shots and there were 3 power plays but no good opportunities. The third period is much of the same. We create a few goal mouth scrambles in the last minute of regulation but nothing do. Overtime is equally sleepy, so to a shootout we go. Why am I not surprised? Diqnol and Hats hit their efforts right at the goalie, while PMom just misses the net completely. Bummer. The result drops us to 7th. Away to Nashville now. The Predators are in 5th so if we want to have a shot at hosting a home playoff series we probably need to win here. Halfway through the first w...

Injury bug strikes again

We start today's update with some less than ideal news. I think the 23 player squad limit is the biggest thing I am having trouble adjusting to, especially when we roster 20 in a game. I've got a couple of injuries so I have free spots on my bench now which I assume is not good? Anyway, onto the first game of this update. A home loss is less than ideal. Confirmation that we suck against teams from the East as well as on the road. Gosh. So of course our next game is on the road to a team from the East, Columbus! They are 13-11-4. Let's see how it goes. Its_is_a_mystery.png Ok then Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. I need new penalty takers apparently. Kash also blew a glorious chance to win it with 10 seconds left in OT. And then. Well, at least this update is almost over. Can't get much worse I hope. On the road to the 14th placed team in the East. Predictable ending. Sigh. Okay, one more game for this quick update. ...

Epilogue Year 15

July 2031 Magnus Gallant retired on July 16th. This is a Stickup retired on July 16th. Quidnose, age 35, is the last Scumhunter left. He has one year left on his deal, so I think this may be his last season. He'll turn 36 in May. I'll be going fast the rest of the way. Once Quid Nose retired, we'll open up the Scumhunters record book and see if any of our former players still hold records or not. Or... not. How about that. Quidnose was a 2 star back when he was 33 in the NHL, probably a 1 star by now. So... that's that, then. The new season hasn't started yet so I'll just go ahead and crack open the record book. Remember, our season was from August 2016-June 2017 so anything in those dates belongs to our squad. We have the Highest League Position, Highest Attendance, Lowest Attendance (no idea how this wasn't broken during the years of 14th place), Highest Playoff Attendance, Lowest Playoff Attendance (all playoff ...
