Epilogue Year 6

July 2022

Ecco Raven, Magnus Gallant, Murmur Twin (Kings), CC Keane (Ducks), Diq Nol (retiring), Bird Strike, Kash Uno (Blue Jackets), and Retro Futurist (Kings) are all out of contract and have left their respective teams.

Ecco signed for Scumhunters for 4 years, $3.3 million per year
Murmur Twin signed for Scumhunters for 1 year, $4.8 million
Retro Futurist signed for Scumhunters for 4 years, $3.7 million per year
Bird Strike signed for Scumhunters for 2 years, $1.8 million per year
Magnus Gallant signed for Scumhunters for 3 years, $1.35 million per year
CC Keane signed for Scumhunters for 2 years, $3.6 million per year
Kashuno signed for Scumhunters for 3 years, $1.6 million per year

LOL that Bird is getting less money than Ecco. Bird has always started and Ecco has been #2. I wonder if that is changing? In the hurry to sign up all these players, we are over the salary cap I think, so someone if not a few folks will probably be released again. Circle of life.

This is also pretty convincing evidence that the AI likes to sign folks on my shortlist. Really think I might need to resign after this year. I'll think it over.

On July 29th, Diq Nol officially retired.

August 2022

Nothin here.

September 2022

The Lord of Hats is named captain. Kash Uno and Murmur Twin are the alternates. Po Que will captain the reigning champion Hurricanes.

Allen Wren and Magnus Gallant were waived and assigned to Tuscon Roadrunners (AHL).

Birdstrike and Capitalist Pig were put on the trading block.

Scumhunters predicted to finish dead last. Pinterest Mom listed as team MVP.

Wren was re-assigned to Rapid City Rush (ECHL).

October 2022

CC Keane hit 400 NHL games.

Quid Nose hit 300 NHL games.

Retro Futurist hit 100 NHL assists.

Pinterest Mom hit 300 NHL points.

Busb hit 200 NHL points.

Scumhunters 6-5-1, 6th place.

November 2022

Interesting note about the Predators, who won the Cup two years in a row before the current champion Hurricanes.

CPig went on the trading block.

Murmur Twin hit 300 NHL points.

Scumhunters 13-10-2, 5th place

December 2022

PMom, Retro Futurist, Busb, and Murmur Twin hit 500 NHL games.

MMM Whatchya Say put on the trading block, and also hit 500 NHL games.

Busb hits 100 NHL goals.

Poison Mushroom hit 100 NHL assists.

Scumhunters are 21-14-3, 6th place

January 2023

Snooze Cruise hit 300 NHL appearances.

All Star time and there's one notable absence

Hats, aged 39, will miss out on the All Star game. I am amazed he is still going tbh. He turns 40 in July so I halfway expect him to retire before then. It will be weird to see this team captained by someone that isn't The Lord of Hats.

Somehow Pinterest Mom did not play in the All Star game. His team lost 8-5. Weird.

Capitalist Pig was waived and re-assigned oto Tuscon Roadrunners (AHL).

Scumhunters are 26-18-4, 6th place

February 2023

Po Que has added another year at $7 million to his Hurricanes contract.

Snooze Cruise hit 100 NHL points.

Hats hit 200 NHL assists.

ASIINA IS UNDERGOING A FOURTH WRIST SURGERY she is definitely bugged, RIP asiina you're never going to play very much and slowly fade away in Switzerland.

Scumhunters are 35-24-4, 6th place. Looks like we'll be in the playoffs this year.

March 2023

Ecco Raven has made their 200th NHL appearance.

Kashuno hit 200 NHL assists.

Scumhunters are 43-30-6, 6th place, just about to qualify for the playoffs.

April 2023

On April 1st, in fact, we do qualify for the playoffs. Scumhunters finish the regular season 46-30-6 in 4th place. We are matched up against the 3rd place Ducks.

A couple of new team records.

Ducks defeat the Scumhunters 4-2. Bummer.

This is a Stickup (CAN) is the only player to get called up for the World Championships.

Stickup played okay in a 4-3 win over Belarus.

Stickup recorded two assists and was selected second star in a 5-1 win over Switzerland.

May 2023

Stickup recorded an assist in a 3-0 victory over Denmark.

Asiina has left Geneve-Servette and is a free agent.

Stickup had a bad game as Finland defeated Canada 3-1.

Stickup had a bad game as Norway defeated Canada 4-2.

Stickup played fine as Canada defeated Poland 5-0.

Stickup played fine but was unable to help as Russia won 4-3 after a shootout.

Stickup played okay as the USA defeated Canada 3-0, ending their tournament.

Sweden defeated the USA 5-2 to become world champions.

June 2023

The Toronto Maple Leafs are Stanley Cup champions, having defeated the Ducks 4-1.

Pre draft, as always

No Birdstrike on the list since Ecco has taken their place.

When you look over the stats, notice that Old Man Hats scored 10 goals, which is the most he has scored since we won the Stanley Cup (he tied his regular season high). He's 39! Ageless wonder.

Finally,

Congrats again, Murmur Twin!

Rounding the corner

I apologize for missing Friday. I was in Delaware and didn't get home until super late, followed by a day trip to Dallas for the weekend so time was not in high supply. I will do a make-up entry tomorrow. Additionally, I'm trying something new this entry: Video! Unfortunately, it took a couple of tries to get things just right so the first game or two of this update will have sparse information. Let's just get started. First up, the Sabers at home. Here is PMush scoring! Unfortunately, that was the only good thing to happen to us this game. Next up, Ducks on the road!  A well taken RF goal.  And there here is This Is A Stickup scoring, but only in picture form. Those were the only highlights I managed.  Ok, on to this game against the Canadiens, where I have an actual lot of highlights to get through.  The puck gets wrapped around the back of the net. Stickup went out to collect but Hats beats him there. Hats...

Wrapping up a road trip

We have the second half of that road trip to tackle so lets get to it. We're away to the Captials. They're 5th in the East to our 5th in the West. The first period didn't have a lot happen in it at all. In the second the deadlock was broken by a good effort by Fisk. The Fisk goal was about the only action of the second period. Pretty dull proceedings. Things were going pretty well until Poque just decided to stop skating after the puck at one point. That turnover led to a goal and sent the game to overtime. Also the puck deflected off of Birdstrike. Way to go, keep. Well, you can probably guess how that turned out. The winning goal came at the very end of overtime. There was a faceoff happening with 20 seconds left so I pulled this up to type that previous paragraph because I just knew  how things were going to go. Of course Poque decided to make amends for being a bonehead earlier. Since I forgot that, and because I decided to not bother copying the bottom half ...

Injury bug strikes again

We start today's update with some less than ideal news. I think the 23 player squad limit is the biggest thing I am having trouble adjusting to, especially when we roster 20 in a game. I've got a couple of injuries so I have free spots on my bench now which I assume is not good? Anyway, onto the first game of this update. A home loss is less than ideal. Confirmation that we suck against teams from the East as well as on the road. Gosh. So of course our next game is on the road to a team from the East, Columbus! They are 13-11-4. Let's see how it goes. Its_is_a_mystery.png Ok then Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. I need new penalty takers apparently. Kash also blew a glorious chance to win it with 10 seconds left in OT. And then. Well, at least this update is almost over. Can't get much worse I hope. On the road to the 14th placed team in the East. Predictable ending. Sigh. Okay, one more game for this quick update. ...
